Well, the Gators won the big game - making that National Championships for the Gators in 2 of the past 3 years. Florida QB Tim Tebow played a pretty good game, despite throwing for 2 interceptions (a career high).
Tebow's Passing Stats:
18/30
231 YDS
2 TD
2 INT
Tebow's Running Stats:
22 ATT
109 YDS
4.95 YDS/CARRY
Does this guy remind you of Tyler Thigpen or what? Not only can he throw and manage a pretty good game, but he can get it done on the ground as well.
Speaking of Thigpen, I think he earned the right to continue to start in Kansas City next year.
As for Tebow, he has declared for the 2009 NFL Draft. Here is the order (the top 5 anyway) for the 2009 NFL draft (with their 2008 record in parentheses):
1. Detroit Lions (0-16)
2. St. Louis Rams (2-14)
3. Kansas City Chiefs (2-14)
4. Seattle Seahawks (4-12)
5. Cleveland Browns (4-12)
Now I haven't done a lot of research on the draft for 2009 as of yet, but KC, Seattle and Cleveland are all pretty well set for QB. The Lions and the Rams, meanwhile, are in unique situations. The Lions have a couple of young QB's that haven't really panned out, plus the "ageless" Daunte Culpepper. The Rams have Marc Bulger and his 60 million dollar contract, but he really didn't look good at all last year. So in my opinion, Tebow could be first off the board heading to Detroit. It depends on the confidence the team has in Kitna and Orlovsky of course, but I can't see them passing up a prospect like Tebow. 2009 will be one of the weakest offensive drafts in NFL history, so there won't be a lot of excitement coming off the board.
Did I have any spelling mistakes in my blog tonight? Maybe....but I just finished drinking some spiced rum and playing NFL 2K5 with my buddy John Fraser.....so at least I have a good excuse.
